Summer Exam Series 2014
.
Thank you to all our very generous business partners for their donations and kind wishes for our fundraising efforts on behalf of the charity Habitat For Humanity. This is Sperrin IC’s first Sixth Form international charity event.
The work of Habitat For Humanity is life changing for the recipients and the experiences gained by our team members from this building project will also impact their lives. It is hoped that by helping others in greater need than ourselves, our team will gain greater compassion and insight into the needs of this world and appreciate the small but significant part they will play in making a difference in the lives of others. The group of Sixth Form Pupils and four staff members, including our Principal Mr Rowan, head out on Friday 19 June for two weeks to Romania to help support a local school building project. All the money raised through fundraising goes directly to supplying materials and man power for this project.

We particularly wish to acknowledge and thank all our pupils, parents and families and the following businesses who have generously contributed to date to our fund raising efforts.

 Principal's welcome

Principal

Welcome to the Sperrin Integrated College website, I hope that it gives a flavour of what our school is like.

As a relatively young school, founded in 2002 we have put a lot of emphasis on building a vibrant community.  Having started with only 51 pupils we now have 500, spread across the 11 – 19 range.  Being part of something which is growing and developing all the time is exciting.  Setting targets and achieving them brings great satisfaction.

Initially we described ourselves as: ‘Individuals Working Together Reaching Success.’  Our latest development plan is entitled ‘Pursuit of Excellence’ and gives a feel for the level of aspiration which has taken root within the school.  We are indeed pursuing excellence in the form of academic success, but also in the development of young men and women to become outstanding citizens, embracing principles such as integrity and respect.

Every department in school is staffed with teachers who want the best for their pupils and who work hard in assisting them to achieve their goals, and to have a bit of fun along the way.

As a fully integrated school we actively seek to include children of all traditions and backgrounds and our most recent inspection commented on the excellent Pastoral Care within the school.  Education is about developing the whole person and the pages of this website will show you how we as teachers, pupils, governors and other staff members go about making the Sperrin education special.  The school location is also something special, with the benefits of being near to the town but in a rural setting, the Sixth Formers even have their own car park, and of course the level of technology within our new school is very high.  Browsing the internet can be fun, and I hope you enjoy our site, but remember that life isn’t virtual, it is real, so make the most of it wherever you are, whether you have the good fortune to be a member of the Sperrin Community or not.

Best Wishes

A P Rowan
